KINGSTON — The Kingston Select Board approved no-parking signs for Tremont Street while declining action on Center Street after a contentious debate over parking tied to a Monday-night recovery meeting at a local church. Police Chief Brian Holmes's annual self-evaluation passed 4-0-1, with one member recusing without explanation; the board credited him with launching a state-funded Family Services Unit and drawing more than 1,500 people to National Night Out. Special cable counsel William Solomon presented a new five-year Verizon license raising the town's capital funding to $65,000, a $25,000 increase, with a public hearing set in two weeks.

The board also set the 2027 Annual Town Meeting for Saturday, May 1, and opened the warrant for the October 27 Special Town Meeting. Residents Susan Sherman and Roseanne Pratt said years of parking and pedestrian-safety complaints near the Center Street church had gone unanswered, with Pratt saying, "I do not want to do CPR on a body again."
