Select Board · Meeting of October 26, 2026

Kingston's Select Board declined to revisit the legal authority behind a Duxbury sewer agreement, voting instead to adjourn without further action. Chair Kim Emberg convened the special meeting at residents' request a day before a town meeting where the issue was expected to resurface. Members Carl Pike and Missy Bateman said they remained "comfortable" with the deal, which lets a 400-bedroom Duxbury development tie into Kingston's sewer system, while Sheila Vaughn said "I would say I'm a no." Petitioner Dan Zotto, who gathered roughly 400 signatures, called the town's legal memo inadequate, citing statutes he said were "cherry-picked." A resident said the town received only a $500,000 non-refundable deposit so far, with roughly $5 million more not expected for about a decade.

Carl Pike moved to adjourn; Missy Bateman seconded; the board approved it unanimously.
