Kingston Capital Planning Committee examines a $250,000 recreational court rehabilitation as school discussion is postponed. The three-member committee — Keith, Wayne, and Chris — questioned Recreation Department staff at the February 11 meeting about why the tennis and basketball court project at Reed's Wharf Park jumped from $50,000 in last year's capital plan to $250,000 this year; staff said an engineering assessment found both courts require full excavation and reconstruction after more than 27 years without major rehabilitation. The Recreation Department has already submitted a Community Preservation Act application, and a final public hearing before that committee is scheduled for March 5.

A planned presentation from Kingston School Committee representatives was postponed at the last minute and will be rescheduled. The committee also flagged unresolved questions about a drop in the annual IT server replacement request from $50,000 to $25,000, with Town Administrator Scott reporting that the town's IT consultant had not yet provided documentation explaining the difference.
