Kingston Capital Planning Hears Six Facility Requests, Awaits Free Cash Number

Kingston's Capital Planning Committee opened its 2026 review cycle with six facilities and infrastructure requests totaling well over $150,000. Facilities manager Rob presented projects including a $25,000 concrete floor-sealing job at Fire Station 1 and the highway barn, a full roof replacement for the 26-year-old Fire Station 1 flat roof, exterior painting of the century-old Rebuilding recreation facility, and $45,000 for stabilization of deteriorating historic columns at the Adams Building. The Adams request drew the sharpest debate, with one committee member arguing the work "should be taken over by the CPC" rather than the capital budget, given its historic preservation character.

A roughly $35,800 tracked tool carrier for snow removal and trail maintenance was also presented, with the committee asking staff to confirm whether it would eliminate an existing outside vendor contract. New Town Administrator Scott Lambiasi, who previously served as Town Manager in Abington and Building Commissioner in Duxbury, attended his first meeting; free cash certification is expected in roughly three to four weeks, and most spending decisions are on hold until that number arrives.
