Kingston Planning Board Releases Two Charles Drive Affordable Lots in Emergency Vote
Planning Board · Meeting of February 3, 2026
Kingston Planning Board releases two affordable lots to save stalled Charles Drive lottery closings. The board voted 3-0 at a special February 3 meeting to release lots 53-10 and 53-11 from the subdivision covenant on Charles Drive after the developer inadvertently scheduled the affordable housing lottery, lender approvals, and closing dates without first securing the required lot releases. The town planner told the board the developer "has done everything right except that they scheduled everything before they got the lots released," and confirmed that remaining lots and a new performance guarantee keep the town financially protected.
Without the vote, closings for buyers selected through the state-supervised affordable housing lottery would have collapsed.
