Recreation Commission · Meeting of April 6, 2026

Kingston Recreation Commission approves Saturday beer garden pilot at Grace Beach Park, 5-0. Local business owners Paul and Steven pitched the seasonal concept, running roughly Memorial Day through late August from noon to 5 p.m., pending police and fire chief sign-off and town licensing. The board separately authorized Recreation Director Sue to recommend seasonal hires straight to the Board of Selectmen, also 5-0.

Commissioners spent much of the meeting on the athletic complex budget: the youth sports user fee, known as the Kyso fee, is recommended to rise to $67,300 from $60,136, up more than $7,100. "We need to get into a position where we can work with the town," said Commissioner Pat Rooney, pushing for the town's flat $56,700 operating contribution to increase so youth sports groups stop absorbing maintenance cost hikes.
