Recreation Commission · Meeting of June 1, 2026

Kingston Recreation Commission reorganizes, reelects Cunningham as chair. Joseph Cunningham III was unanimously reelected chair and Eileen Moynihan vice chair, with new member Carl Peer, a recent sports-administration graduate, named to the Community Preservation Committee seat. The board gave Cunningham the KYSO/athletic complex liaison role after Peer expressed interest, with both agreeing to "work together on it." The recreation director told the board "it's all a collaborative effort" regardless of title.

Ahead of Kingston's June 6 Town Meeting, the director outlined Article 28, a $250,000 Community Preservation Act request to fully rebuild the Grays Beach Park tennis and basketball courts "down to the soil," plus Article 22 funding for park security cameras and music nights. The department reported over 3,600 hours of outside field and building use and roughly a dozen new seasonal hires for the summer.
