Council on Aging · Meeting of October 13, 2026

KINGSTON — The Kingston Council on Aging Advisory Board heard from senior center quilters and a disability-rights advocate while reviewing a director's report showing record food-pantry turnout. Quilters Sharon Burgess and Barbara Blackman described donating items to Kingston veterans and groups like Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, crediting longarm quilter Dawn Gothier for finishing larger pieces for free. Commission on Disabilities member Will Kushner said the panel, rebuilding after a 2013-2026 hiatus, has only two members and needs three more to reach its required five-member quorum, all of whom must be Kingston residents.

The director reported 1,615 September check-ins, the highest since March, and said the Community Cupboard pantry served "the largest" turnout "since we started the program" at 68 people. Senior Tax Workoff Program applications are due October 15, with the new program year starting November 1.
