Board of Health · Meeting of July 21, 2026
Kingston Board of Health closes Dollar Tree over pest conditions, shifts to Tuesday meetings. The board voted unanimously at its July 21 meeting to permanently move to the first and third Tuesdays after new member Lauren cited a standing Monday conflict in Duxbury, a shift the department's health agent noted will also reduce staff overtime costs. Health Agent Joyce reported she had closed the Dollar Tree store the prior Monday after a mold complaint inspection uncovered a pest control problem in the back storeroom, and said she is making daily monitoring visits with no reopening date set.
The board unanimously adopted a new policy requiring any permit issued after the fact to carry a fee double the standard rate, a change prompted by an inconsistency surfaced in a prior enforcement action against Republic Services. Members also learned that the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department ended its well-being call program for elderly residents on July 1 with no advance notice to the town, and directed the health agent to contact Kingston Senior Center Director Holly to arrange a roundtable on building a replacement check-in system.
