Water · Meeting of August 18, 2026

Kingston Water Commission commits roughly $700,000 to design three sewer extensions, pressed by residents over a Duxbury capacity sale. The board directed engineer CDM Smith to proceed with about 30 percent design and full geotechnical survey work across the Town & Country, Marion Drive and Pottle Street project areas, with an October 1, 2027 state financing deadline looming. Resident Maria Dixon questioned a 2024 deal selling 44,000 gallons per day of sewer capacity to a Duxbury development called Miramar; commissioners said the town holds a $600,000 non-refundable guarantee and the capacity represents about 3 percent of plant capacity.

"The sewer commissioners did sell capacity to Miramar... those are the only facts that are currently known," one member said. The board also approved a $750.61 sewer fee abatement for 17 Schofield Road and held June and August meeting minutes after flagging AI-transcription errors.
