Water · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Kingston Sewer Commission defends $600,000 Duxbury capacity deal amid resident backlash. Commissioners confirmed they reserved 44,000 gallons per day of sewer capacity, enough for up to 400 bedrooms, for the Miramar 40B project proposed on Duxbury land near the town line, collecting a nonrefundable $600,000 toward an agreement potentially worth $3.2 million. Selectman Carl Pike said all five board members signed off, calling it "a business decision" meant to help offset roughly $29 million in sewer debt due by 2038.

Duxbury residents Christine Hill and an unnamed Duxbury Bay Commission member said their town was never consulted, with one saying Kingston "stuck us with this 40B project that we're not going to be able to do anything about." Maple Street resident Elizabeth Carroll separately pressed commissioners on whether the sale would leave enough capacity for her own property plans. The commission also approved a routine $406.60 final water account bill before adjourning.
