Kingston Board of Health praises new public health nurse and eyes recycling overhaul. Health Agent Joyce told the board at the March 2 meeting that public health nurse Annie has established weekly Council on Aging visits, secured preliminary fall vaccination clinic dates with CVS, and completed more than a dozen professional training certifications in her first two months, "give her a task and she's on it," Joyce said. The board tracked flu cases at 49 in December, 25 in January, and 19 in February, and confirmed that Massachusetts maintains roughly a 97 percent vaccination rate among school-age children amid two state-confirmed measles cases.
Board member Joe reported that the town's recycling committee is developing a pay-as-you-throw proposal and new transfer-station signage to address vendor-driven sorting confusion. The board agreed informally to invite the grant epidemiologist to a future meeting to review a June 2025 report whose specific recommendations had never been formally discussed by the full board.
